Floating Campsite Docks on Flaming Gorge Reservoir

Green River and Flaming Gorge Reservoir Recreation Area

Almost completely unknown or little known, are some really cool floating campsites waiting for boaters to arrive! Located on the massive Flaming Gorge Reservoir, there are approximately 12 floating campsite docks, stretching from the north end of the reservoir to the south end, and spanning Wyoming and Utah (4 floating campsites in Wyoming and 8 in Utah). Most of the floating campsite docks measure approximately 16′ x 20′. Boaters can tie up to the dock and camp overnight either inside their boat, or with camping gear on the dock surface. These floating dock platforms are not covered. The floating docks are tethered/anchored, but it would still be a good idea to anchor your boat for good measure. No facilities are offered, and none are available on the shoreline, so bring everything you might need for your stay. Most of these docks are tucked away into a bay-like setting, and seemingly protected from winds over the open parts of the lake.

We did a lot of research on the topic of these floating campsite docks and basically found very little information online regarding the rules, terms of use, and/or exact location of each dock. We created a map on Google Maps showing all of the ones that appeared on satellite. The map has other boat-in only campsites all across the USA. If you would like access to the map, please send us an email at info@parktheboat.com

There are also a handful of boat-in only campsites on the reservoir, consisting of shoreline and/or island camping with amenities and fees. Here is a place you can start researching and/or reserving these campsites.

As far as we know, the floating campsite docks are free and are first-come, first served.
